Muslim Literary Festival —
Here to bring the stories our community needs to life
Land Acknowledgement
Muslim Literary Festival (MLF) acknowledges that Toronto is on the traditional territory of many Indigenous nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples. It is now home to diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. MLF recognizes that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13, signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties, signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous people across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to meet and work on this land.
We recognize the enduring presence of Indigenous peoples in this area and honor their contributions past, present, and future. We also acknowledge the ongoing struggle for Indigenous rights, sovereignty, and self-determination. As we work, live, and thrive on this land, let us commit to fostering meaningful reconciliation, building respectful relationships, and uplifting Indigenous voices and perspectives in all aspects of our community.
